Mistral AI is seeking an Applied AI Engineer to join our Applied AI Engineering team. This role is integral to driving the successful deployment of Mistral AI products and building complex enterprise use cases. You will work hand-in-hand with customers from pre-sale to post-implementation, ensuring our solutions meet and exceed client expectations. You will manage customer relations involving multiple stakeholders and function as a key resource in externalizing our research in production settings, facilitating the adoption of our products and collaborating to address complex technical challenges.
Responsibilities
- Deploy production use cases with considerable business impact across various industries.
- Work on state-of-the-art GenAI applications from consumer products to industrial use cases, driving technological transformation with customers.
- Collaborate with researchers, AI engineers, and product engineers on complex customer projects involving fine-tuning, LLM applications, and contributing to open-source codebases for inference and fine-tuning.
- Participate in pre-sales calls to understand client needs, provide technical guidance on products, and explain Mistral technologies.
- Collaborate with product and science teams to improve product and model capabilities based on customer feedback.
Requirements
- Fluent in English.
- PhD/Master's in AI/data science or equivalent experience.
- 7-10+ years as a technical individual contributor (data scientist or software engineer) on AI-based products.
- Experience in Fine Tuning LLMs, tackling advanced RAG or agentic use cases.
- Deep understanding of concepts and algorithms underlying machine learning and LLMs.
- Deep understanding of Cloud Infrastructure and AI product deployment.
- Experience deploying or building products with large-scale user bases.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience as a Forward Deployed Engineer, Staff Engineer Machine Learning Engineer, or Staff Data Scientist (ideal).
