About the job
We are seeking research engineers with a strong computer vision background to enhance the visual and spatial reasoning capabilities of our state-of-the-art Claude models. This role involves research, development, and evaluation, taking a full-stack approach across pretraining, RL, and runtime techniques. You will collaborate closely with the product organization to ensure that vision improvements directly impact Claude's performance on real-world tasks and address customer challenges.
Responsibilities
- Run experiments to evaluate architectural variants, data strategies, and SL/RL techniques to improve Claude's vision capabilities.
- Develop and test tools, skills, and agentic infrastructure for visual input reasoning.
- Create evaluations and benchmarks for multimodal capabilities across training and deployment.
- Collaborate with the product organization to solve customer challenges related to vision and spatial reasoning.
Requirements
- 7+ years of ML, computer vision, and software engineering experience.
- Familiarity with the architecture, training, and operation of large vision language models.
- Experience creating and evaluating large synthetic and real-world visual training datasets.
- Experience with systematic prompting, finetuning, or evaluation.
- Results-oriented with a bias towards flexibility and impact.
- Enjoy pair programming and cross-team collaboration.
