Scale's Global Public Sector team is seeking a technically strong and client-oriented Engineering Manager to lead the development of AI applications for UAE government agencies. This role is based in the UAE and places you at the center of the nation's ambitious AI-first initiatives. You will be responsible for engineering delivery, embedding deeply with clients, and building Scale's presence as a leading AI partner in the region. The ideal candidate is comfortable in both government stakeholder meetings and technical design reviews, driving AI solutions from concept to production.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of engineers building AI-powered applications for UAE government clients.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for UAE government stakeholders, building relationships and presenting solutions.
- Design, build, and optimize full-stack AI applications, including data pipelines, ML model integration, APIs, and frontend delivery.
- Develop and deploy AI/ML solutions such as LLM-powered applications, AI agents, and intelligent automation.
- Architect and maintain API integrations between Scale's platform and UAE government systems.
- Translate requirements into scalable engineering solutions and drive delivery from concept to production.
- Represent Scale AI in client-facing settings, including workshops and executive briefings.
- Manage delivery across multiple concurrent workstreams, balancing velocity and quality.
- Mentor and grow engineers on the team, fostering a culture of technical excellence and client focus.
- Contribute to shaping team culture, engineering processes, and best practices.
Requirements
- 6+ years of total software engineering experience, with a strong background in AI/ML engineering and full-stack development.
- 3+ years of engineering leadership experience, managing and growing technical teams.
- Hands-on experience building, fine-tuning, or deploying machine learning models and LLM-based applications in production.
- Full-stack engineering proficiency across backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and frontend interfaces.
- Proven experience in a customer-facing or client-embedded engineering role, engaging with government or enterprise clients.
- Experience designing and integrating APIs at scale, including RESTful services and AI/ML APIs.
- Ability to translate complex government requirements into practical, scalable engineering solutions.
- Track record of shipping high-quality products and features in dynamic environments.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to tailor technical content for senior government audiences.
- Familiarity with UAE government digital transformation priorities is strongly preferred.
- Experience working in or with the UAE or broader GCC region is strongly preferred.
- Arabic language skills are a plus.
