About the job

As a Manager of Applied AI Engineers at Anthropic, you will lead a team of deeply technical engineers who serve as trusted technical advisors to our Enterprise Tech customers. Your team works hands-on with customer product and engineering teams as they ship new products powered by Claude, advising on architecture decisions, developing evaluation frameworks, and guiding customers through cutting-edge implementation patterns for LLMs. You will hire, coach, and grow this team while staying close enough to the technology to set a high bar for engineering judgment. Working closely with our Sales, Product, and Engineering teams, you'll guide your team's portfolio of customers from technical discovery through successful deployment, turn one-off wins into repeatable playbooks and reference architectures, and channel field insight back into Anthropic's product roadmap.

This is a fast-moving space at the frontier of what's possible with LLMs, and you'll help define how we scale technical impact across the segment. You will maintain strong, current knowledge of LLM capabilities, implementation patterns, and the AI product development stack, and translate it into practical guidance for your team and customers. Occasional travel to customer sites for workshops, implementation support, and relationship building is expected, as is representing Anthropic at conferences and speaking engagements.

Responsibilities

  • Build, coach, and grow a team of Applied AI Engineers serving Enterprise Tech customers.
  • Set collaborative performance goals and establish metrics and reporting for team health and impact.
  • Serve as a senior technical advisor to strategic customers deploying new products on Claude.
  • Partner with account executives and solutions architects to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Identify and scale recurring design patterns, pilots, and evaluation suites into segment-wide assets.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to surface field signal and advocate for product changes.
  • Champion the creation of scalable assets documenting LLM techniques and contribute thought leadership.
  • Maintain strong, current knowledge of LLM capabilities and implementation patterns.
  • Travel occasionally to customer sites and represent Anthropic at conferences.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in technical roles (e.g., Forward Deployed Engineer, Software Engineer, Solutions/Sales Engineer, Technical Product Manager), including leading and developing technical teams.
  • Demonstrated success hiring, coaching, and scaling customer-facing technical teams.
  • Production experience with LLMs, including advanced prompt engineering, agent development, evaluation frameworks, and deployment at scale.
  • Strong programming skills with proficiency in Python or TypeScript and experience building production applications.
  • Track record engaging senior technical stakeholders and influencing technical architecture and product strategy.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and execute across domains with intellectual openness.
  • High-cooperation mindset for cross-organizational collaboration.
  • Exceptional communication skills to convey technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Passion for advancing safe, beneficial AI systems.
